Online Theater Camps for Playful Kids
We have translated our award-winning theater camps into online programming that kids around the world can join. Just like in our regular programs, Child’s Play NY online camps are interactive and enriching! Bonded by amazing themes, kids have live sessions with teachers and friends, downtime to work on crafts and writing and asynchronous blocks of movement and story that fit into your summer schedule whenever you need.
Each week kids produce original work and get a movie montage showcasing their new skills and the games they loved!

Join a Summer Play Pod
We are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to offer in-person programming during August, in tandem with the online components. These Play Pods will support the mental health of our children who are longing for connection, while also following rigorous health and safety protocols. During the Play Pod time, there would be 4 children with 1 adult. The meeting duration will be limited in time, either in our cleaned and well ventilated studios or in a safely cordoned-off area outside.
Meet the Camp Counselors!
Dynamic, talented, funny, energetic – the staff of Child’s Play NY makes each camp day wildly enriching. From story hours where the characters come to life, to choreography and costume design lessons, kids are immersed in acting with professionals at the top of their field.
Brandon Zelman
During the summer, Brandon can be found leading joyous classes from Harry Potter to Roald Dahl. Don’t be surprised if he turns up as Snape, Willy Wonka or Professor Squiggles - a teacher of his own invention! His improv comedy background (he’s UCB trained) and love of collective theater-making is something he passes on to all his campers!
Charlotte Gaspard
Our beloved production designer, Charlotte, can turn tin foil into crowns and scepters, cardboard into backdrops and even simple paper into jungle bird puppets. Classes with her during camp will get kids using recycled materials to make props and costumes for their characters! Her extensive experience in design (NYSF, Public Theater) and her love of shadow puppetry make for awesome theater magic for our campers.
Anne Troup
This summer, Anne can be found teaching Oz-inspired scavenger hunts, as an anchor on the Mythology news hour, and even leading singalongs on her uke! A powerhouse teacher, Anne’s background as a classically trained actress inspires her love building truthful and inspired performances through play!
Amanda Mason
Amanda's gifts as an actor make her beloved by all her students. Sometimes known to dress as Elsa to help kids go “Into the Unknown”, she also loves creating new plays from kids’ original work and diving into classical texts from Roald Dahl to Greek Mythology to get campers passionate about the characters they’ll play!
Psacoya Guinn
Whether teaching Shakeseapeare or helping kids write their own original movie, Psacoya is a master! She loves to help kids enter worlds of imagination through game-based theater exercises and roots her work in the classics. As Psacoya (pronounced like the beautiful Sequoia tree!) zooms into your home this summer, expect a ton of creativity, laughter and inspired work!
Alla Ilyasova
An expert in early education, Alla’s engaging classes for the Pre-K and K set involve tons of play, creative movement and imaginative adventures. From crazy hats that make her students have new personalities to teleporting puppets, to dance parties galore, kids will love their joyful sessions with Alla!
Adrienne Whitaker
A true triple threat, Adrienne can be found teaching awesome moves in character. Through dance and games she’ll transport kids from Belle’s ballroom to Balloo’s jazzy jungle and give them an inspired work-out to boot!
Malik Work
Malik is an accomplished actor, theater artist, and lyrical giant! His groundbreaking, hip-hop theater and solo-performance pieces have garnered him international accolades. Malik teaches his Child's Play NY students how to translate Shakespeare's rhymes into rhythms of their own. He can be seen in the virtual classrooms supporting kids as they turn Greek Myths and Shakespeare monologues into awesome adaptations.
Testimonials
It was so fun to hear my son laughing at the computer and interacting with his fabulous teachers and wonderful castmates while we are all practicing social distancing. Thank you for keeping the classes going and the lines of communication open.
Laura H. Congleton
My rose today was my daughter singing in the bedroom with your teachers! She was feeling blah and then then did your class and was so happy. Thank you all for making a difference and for making our day!
Anna K.
Child's Play NY teaching artists are pure magic. And we need magic at a time like this! My 4th graders' theater residency was interrupted when school shut down, and Child's Play worked with me to continue to provide authentic, imaginative, and uplifting theater experiences for my students right in their own living rooms. Seeing the kids faces light up during our online classes brings me such joy. Parents and kids have reached out to tell me how much the teachers and classes mean to them. It's a wonderful way to connect with each other and enter a world of pure imagination.
